Due to the overwhelming abuse of prescription drugs today, the amount of people dependent on opiate pain medications is unbelievably high. We're not just talking about teenagers, young and older adults have become dependent on opiates for various reasons too. Prescription drugs are abuse by people from all walks of life and it doesn't matter what your profession is, many medical professionals are dependent on narcotic drugs too.

Heroin use is also increasing because prescribed narcotics are being monitored in most states now making them harder to obtain which also has increased the cost of painkillers on the streets. Heroin can be easily obtained, is highly potent in some areas and less expensive than narcotic pain pills now, so treatment programs that are designed to treat opiate addiction are crucial anymore.
