Many women throughout the United States are struggling form addiction and their children are suffering too. A lot of these women have no place to go for help, they don't have a job, and due to their substance use are sometimes not able to be with their children or be a mother to them because they're unable to even take care of themselves. When mothers are unable to get help and treatment for their substance use, their lives continue to spiral out of control and their children continue to suffer as well.

It's not uncommon for children that grow up around drugs and alcohol to start drinking or using substances at an early age and suffer from addiction at some point in their life also.

Step2 Substance Abuse Treatment Program

Women 18 years and older struggling with addiction in Nevada find the help they need at Step2 to turn their lives around, get clean and learn the skills they need to embrace motherhood. Women receive much more than the opportunity to stay clean from drugs and alcohol at Step2. Women are given a chance to reconnect with their children and receive positive parenting skills, improve their self-esteem and confidence, obtain a GED, and can receive assistance in finding a job.

Step2 began as one group home in 1986 and now has multiple group homes in Northern Nevada and is able to help 25 families at a time treating women and their children in a safe and supporting environment. Women are empowered when receiving help and treatment at Step2 and receive individualized treatment programs, life skills, knowledge and education, encouragement and support for up to eighteen months.
